Breathe

Site

I have wanted to make a site to Drew Barrymore since I first started making sites in 2000. She's my favorite actress, and I wanted a place to discuss her films and pay her tribute. Lots of things kept me from building this site over the years. I thought celebrity sites had to be news and media sources, and I wasn't up to maintaining either. I also didn't think there was anything unique I could do that hasn't been done tens of times by other Drew sites. In 2010, I decided to just go for it. I figured I could do something personal to her with lots of opinions and reviews. I also wanted to discuss some of her characters, because her characters are what made me love her in the first place, and I actually enjoy analyzing characters. What ended up being created is what you see before you. It's completely different from other celebrity fansites, but it's completely me. I now have a place to rant and rave about Drew's films and characters, and I'm having fun with it. I hope you like it.

Breathe officially debuted on July 31st, 2010. I had this name picked out for years, although it wasn't until I started working on the site that I decided to buy breathe-drew.net. Breathe comes from a quote from my favorite Drew movie, Ever After. "Just breathe," is uttered by Danielle as she tries to calm herself and draw strength to walk into the ball and face Henry and Rodmilla. It's a really great scene. I think "Breathe" can apply to Drew as well as Danielle. Like Danielle, Drew had a lot holding her down, but she possessed the strength to rise above her problems and come out a better person, attested by her success and philanthropy. I really admire Drew, so I'm glad I finally made this site.

To get myself in gear, I pledged to make this site in the Live-Action Marathon at the fansite community, Amassment. It definitely gave me the kick I needed; I probably would have put this site off for another year at least. Unfortunately, the marathon came with a deadline and forced me to have this site up by the end of July. I didn't get everything done that I would have liked to have gotten done on this site. I would have preferred to have made at least two more character sections before debuting this site to the public, and I would have liked to have rewatched and reviewed a few more of her films, but I'm not ashamed at all of what I did get done. There's a full character section to browse, and I did at least get started on the film reviews. The bright side is that I still have plans for this site, so you can look forward to this site being active; updates are definitely coming. The other sites I run are dedicated to completed series and games. Drew Barrymore is still working, and she makes new films all the time, so this is a different experience for me. I'm actually excited that this site is one I can regularly update. You can follow my updates for this site at my updates blog, Rush Coil.

Click to enlarge. In December of 2010, this site was voted Best Actor or Actress Fansite in the 2010 Fansite Pageant Awards. Thank you to those who nominated or voted for my site! It's a huge honor to have won, and I'm over the moon about it, haha. It makes me feel good to see that there are people out there who enjoy Breathe. The support from you all inspires me to keep working; I hope I can make this site even better in 2011. <3

About the Webmaster

ToddMy name is Todd. I'm 25 years old. I grew up in South Carolina, but I am currently living in Kansas. I've been a huge Drew Barrymore fan since I was about 12 years old. I got most of my Drew Barrymore movies as presents on holidays growing up from friends and family who knew I liked her a lot. I still have most of my VHS tapes. I've seen just about every movie she's in. I'm not really sure what about Drew Barrymore drew me to her at a young age, even though I can tell you plenty of reasons why I like her now (and I have all over this site). My favorite Drew Barrymore movie is definitely Ever After, although I like Home Fries, Mad Love, The Wedding Singer, and Duplex a lot. My least favorite Drew film I've seen is probably Riding in Cars With Boys, but I even liked it. It'd probably take a lot for me not to like a movie Drew Barrymore is in, but it hasn't happened yet.

I started making websites in 2000, and it's remained a hobby of mine over the years. I've found that websites are a great way to rant and rave about things I like, and a great way to connect with other fans who like them too. It's also a great creative outlet. I mostly make sites to characters from video games and TV shows, and I used a lot of the techniques I've picked up over the years from those sites in this one. If you've enjoyed Breathe you might want to check out some of my other stuff at Nightbringer.net, my home on the web. There you can find the other sites I run, and more information on me and the things I like. In addition, if you have any questions or just want to send me a comment about this site or anything, really, feel free to contact me. I love website mail.
